Good afternoon caregivers of Arnold H. McLeod School,

This is the weekly message for Friday February 28th:

March Break – Please note that next week is March Break for all students.  School will resume on Monday March 10th.

Reminder of Morning Kiss n Drop and drop-off procedures – The school driveway and parking lot have safety markings to make walking as safe as possible.  Unfortunately, these areas are for staff parking only, as it is such a limited space. Parents are asked to park along Storey Rd East or side streets to allow staff access to parking spaces for the day.

Cars must go in one direction only.  Please obey signs to ensure the safety of our students.  Parents who are driving their children to and from school are requested to enter the driveway on the top end of Storey Road East.  You must stop momentarily to let your child out in the Kiss and Ride location, then continue up the U turn back onto Storey Road East.  Bus Zone and Handicapped Parking are located in front of the school.  All other vehicles please follow the Kiss and Drop rules.

  • Please have your child ready prior to arriving and stopping the Drop off Zone.
  • Do not park in the Drop off Zone and walk towards the building.
  • Please do not exit your car.
  • Have your child exit the vehicle on the passenger side.
  • Check your blind spot prior to pulling out into the exit area.
  • Please obey the stop sign as you exit the Kiss and Drop and enter back on to Storey Road East.
  • Please refer to Appendix A in your child’s Student Handbook for a visual of our Kiss n Drop Protocol.

Granola Bar Run – Throughout the year, we complete service projects to better our community.  This month’s project is to build a granola bar domino run. Please help us support the Food Depot Alimentaire by sending in full boxes of granola or cereal bars for this great cause.  We request only normal size boxes as the family size or larger size don’t work well in the run. Your donations need to be into the school by Friday March 21st. The event is on Wednesday March 26th.  This is the fourth year for this fundraiser.

Learning Habits – Each month at AHM, along with a service project, our students focus on one of the five Learning Habits featured on the report cards.  So far in 2024, we have worked on Interactions and Independence.  This week the students were introduced to the Learning Habit of Initiative.  Ask them about it!

That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading.  Have a great March Break!
