Good afternoon caregivers of Arnold H. McLeod School,

This is the weekly message for Friday September 5th:

Welcome back!  We are extremely pleased with our first week of school.  The students are quickly settling in and learning the new routines and procedures.

We would like to remind everyone of the importance of locks if students are bringing their bikes, scooters, skateboards, etc. to school.  Also, students are not allowed to bring technology from home, i.e., tablets, phones, etc.

If you are sending your child to school with a snack that requires a spoon or a fork, please also send along the utensil.  We are unable to provide utensils for students.

As mentioned in previous communication, the student fee for school supplies for the 2025-2026 school year is $50.  This fee can be paid online via School Cash net (this method is preferred) or by sending in the money to your child’s teacher.

Please make note of the very important information to follow in the morning and end-of-day procedures. Supervision begins at 8am. Please do not drop off or have your children arrive prior to that time. At the end of the day all K-2 parents are asked to wait on the playground area by the K door for pick up, not before 2:40pm. Please remain back from the door. Their teachers will bring them to that location to meet you. We kindly ask that you are looking for your child’s teacher and that if possible, you stand in a consistent location to help aid the process of making eye contact before sending the student to you.

AHM will be hosting its annual Meet the Staff Night on Thursday September 11th at 6:30 pm. The evening will begin with presentations in the gymnasium and then classroom visits.

We will be holding our Lockdown Practice with students and staff on Friday, September 12th at 1:00pm. Please refer to the Hold and Secure/Lockdown form on school cash for more information.

Next week students will be learning more about Terry Fox to gear up for our Terry Fox Walk which will take place the following week, Thursday, September 18th. Students may choose to purchase tickets for $1.00 each for a chance to win a Terry Fox T-shirt. All money raised goes to the Terry Fox Foundation and the draw will take place on Thursday, Sept. 18th before the walk. If students prefer to buy their own shirt, they may do so. Order forms were sent home this week and are due back by Fri, September 12th. This is to ensure that shirts arrive in time for the Terry Fox Walk. You can check out this year’s T-shirt design online at www.terryfox.org. It is a black T-shirt design.

The fall picture day will take place on Monday, September 29th.

Just a reminder that all students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle labeled with their name to school as our water fountains are fill stations only.

Thank you to Lewisville Church for donating school supplies to a few students/families in need.  We are Grateful Gators for your kindness.

We need sandwich makers for our breakfast program. Volunteers take 4-5 loaves of bread home with a couple different condiments and sandwiches are labelled and placed in sandwich bags. Please email Sheila.Johnston@nbed.nb.ca if you are interested and she will set up the pick-up/drop-off days with you. We also have parents who will be volunteering for our lunch program. Thank you to returning volunteers. We do need a few more spots filled so if you are interested, please email Mrs. Johnston as well. This would be once a week from 11:45-1pm. We appreciate our volunteers so much!

That’s all for this week.  Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
