Good afternoon caregivers of Arnold H. McLeod School,

This is the message for Friday September 27th:

Please note that there will be no school on Monday, September 30th as we recognize Truth and Reconciliation Day.

School photos were taken this past Monday. Please check your child’s backpack for the order envelope.  Orders must be returned to the school by Tuesday, October 1st or you can also place your order online at your own convenience. Signing up for picture retakes is done online using the QR code and will take place at the school on Friday, November 1st.

Kindergarten pre-registration is currently open. Ideally, we would like all future kindergarten students to be registered by the end of October. Parents will need to first register online and then they will be contacted by the school to set up an appointment to finish the process.

Good news! Our hot lunch program will be re-opening on Monday, October 7th. Orders must be placed online before 8 am each day.  All meals must be pre-ordered.  More information will be sent in a handout next week in your child’s backpack.

We are still looking for lunch volunteers. The commitment would be to be at the school from approximately 11:50 am until 12:50 pm to help deliver and pick up lunch trays.  We need 10 more volunteers to be able to run our program. This subsidized lunch program is a real benefit to families.

A reminder that morning recess is from 8:00 – 8:25am in the morning. Students are only permitted to be dropped in the Kiss n’ Drop area starting at 8:00am as this is when supervision begins. Also, following the 8:25am bell, parents dropping off their children must use the front doors and sign their child in at the office at which time students will be directed to their homeroom by our educational staff.

Halloween is fast approaching.  Just a gentle reminder that students at AHM do not wear costumes to school.  We also follow the government policy 711 Healthier School Food Environment.  Please do not send treats to share with the class that do not meet this policy.  Some acceptable items include fruit and vegetable platters, yogurt tubes, granola bars etc. If you feel the need to send a gift in for the class, please consider non-food items such as Halloween pencils, erasers, tattoos etc.

That’s all for this week.  Have a great long weekend.
