Hello parents and caregivers of AHM,
This is your message for the week of September 14th.
We’ve had a wonderful first week together and hope that your child has come home with some exciting stories to tell! The students are quickly settling in and learning the new routines and procedures.
Some friendly reminders: *Please send a lock if students are bringing their bikes, scooters, skateboards, etc. to school. *According to updated Policy 311 students are not permitted to bring technology from home, i.e., tablets, phones, etc. *Indoor sneakers are expected to remain at school and all K-5 students should have a pair here as that keeps outside dirt from tracking into classrooms and our gymnasium. *If you are sending your child to school with a snack that requires a spoon or a fork, please also send along the utensil. We are unable to provide utensils for students. *All students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle to school. Thank you!
The student fee for the 2025-2026 school year is $50. This fee can be paid online via School Cash Online (preferred) or by sending in the money to your child’s teacher. Please ensure you have completed the digital signing of all District required documents on School Cash online as soon as possible.
Morning supervision begins at 8am. Please ensure your children only arrive at that time. All students go to the back playground upon arrival. For the 2:45 dismissal all K-2 parents are asked to wait on the playground area by the K door for pick up. 3-5 parents are to be waiting on the back playground.
Please note that the parking lot is for staff only and parents are asked to park on the street for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Please see previous email for reminders for our Kiss and Drop.
AHM will be hosting its annual Meet the Staff Night on Thursday September 17th at 6:00 pm. The evening will begin with presentations in the gymnasium. We can’t wait to see you all there!
Next week students will be learning more about Terry Fox to gear up for our Terry Fox Walk which will take place the following week, Thursday, September 24th. Students may purchase tickets for $1.00 each for a chance to win a Terry Fox T-shirt. All money raised goes to the Terry Fox Foundation and the draw will take place on Thursday, Sept. 24th before the walk.
If students would prefer to buy their own shirt, they may do so. Order forms were sent home this week and are due back by Wednesday, September 16th. This is to ensure that shirts arrive in time for the Terry Fox Walk. You can check out this year’s T-shirt design online at https://shop.terryfox.org/ It is a grey T-shirt design. Youth shirts are $25 and adult shirts are $30. All purchases help fund cancer research in Canada.
We are so pleased to now have our school field fenced in and a basketball court as part of Phase 1 in our Fuel the Fun Campaign. GagaBall Pits are also on the way!
We hope you will join us for AHM’s Chocolate Bar Bingo and Pizza Night on Friday, September 25th at 6:00pm! Proceeds of this event will go towards AHM’s Fuel the Fun Campaign to replace our current playground.
Date/Time: Friday, September 25th, Doors open at 6:00 pm, Bingo starts at 6:30 pm

Thank you for your patience as the Provincial changes to the hot lunch program have come into effect here at AHM. Please note an important change: orders must be placed before 8am on the weekday prior to the chosen day. For example: hot lunch orders for Wednesday must be submitted before 8am on Tuesday. Hot lunch orders for Monday must be submitted before 8am on Friday.
A reminder to all that there is no school for students on Friday, Sept 18th as staff have Professional Development.
Please find attached the 2026-2027 Student and Family Handbook. This contains very important information for families and expectations for students. Please read carefully and review with your children. We appreciate your partnership. Student & Family Handbook 26-27.pdf
